Can you install Ultralight Insulation Boards under a Foil Heater System?


Yes, you can install Ultralight under Foil Heater Systems.

While the Ultralight Insulation Boards can be used under Foil Systems, the Warmup® Insulated Underlay is the recommended option for installation under a Foil Heater System. Warmup® Insulated Underlay has been specially developed for installation under Warmup® FOIL systems used to heat rooms under laminates, floating wood floors, and floating LVT floors.

What is the proper way to install Ultralight Insulation Boards?


The perfect installation for Warmup Ultralight Insulation Boards would be a tight and staggered seams. Instead of lining up the edges of the boards perfectly, it is extremely important to offset them a bit to provide a thermal break. A thermal break is a barrier that stops heat from moving easily between inside and outside. When you have a good thermal break, your insulation works better, which means your home stays warmer without needing to turn up the heat all the time.

Insulation Boards: Preparing for the Installation of Floor Heating


All surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned of all dirt and debris. When installing over an existing concrete base, it is important to remove all traces of existing finishes, contamination, etc. to allow for a clean surface.

Installing insulation boards over a Concrete Subfloor


When installing over cement, screws and washers are not necessary. You will first use a trowel to put down a modified mortar. Then you will stagger the boards and press them together.
