With summer starting to wind down, now is the perfect time to start thinking about bringing some of the latest autumn trends into your home.

AUTUMN TRENDS: SHADES OF GREY

Grey has been a big trend in fashion for a while now, and one we’ve recently seen transition through to interior design. It’s a versatile colour with wide shade variations, making it perfect for almost any area of your home. When combined with earthy tones it creates a homely, cosy feel and when used alongside pale blues or whites it can exude calm, definitely one of the most important Autumn Trends.

When it comes to your walls and floors, grey is an ideal choice in areas where you want a clean, fresh look but without the starkness a white surface can bring. Try our Regional Reflections Dwyran tile which is inspired by the Welsh slate industry during the 19th & 20th century. Stone or wood effect tiles combined with rustic accessories are perfect for bringing a touch of the outdoors into your home this autumn.

The cool tones found in grey work particularly well when mixed with warmer accessories such as chunky-knit throws, and textured cushions are the perfect combination for a cosy yet on-trend look that will stay fresh throughout the season. Whilst this combination will make your home look warm and cosy, we’d also recommend adding underfloor heating (you can get a quote for underfloor heating from Warmup) to keep your feet warm during the colder months.

MIXING MATERIALS

Mixing and matching different styles and patterns in interior design creates a sense of depth in a room which prevents it from looking too flat. It also means you’re able to add things to the space as time goes on without anything looking out of place.

You don’t have to go all out when thinking about mixing materials. Sometimes, the simple, subtle touches such as contrasting colours in accessories work just as well. These small changes are great ways to incorporate a theme into a room without having to redecorate.

Another simple way to introduce some contrast into a room is to mix different textures on the same surface. For example, our exclusive Mixara range is perfect for both walls and floors and has been designed with six different finishes – perfect for creating a real style statement in your home.

PATTERNS

Patterns are another great way to introduce a splash of personality into a home, especially when they’re featured on large surfaces such as walls or floors. Patterns don’t have to be huge, bright florals (unless you want them to be!). They can be simple linear designs on curtains or a chevron pattern on a muted cushion for example.

Try laying your tiles in a herringbone pattern for a simple yet striking look, or choose a detailed patterned tile for your flooring to make a real style statement. Depending on the pattern you choose, the look you create can either be traditional or contemporary, allowing you to get as creative as you want.

If you’d prefer to keep it really simple, think about introducing some patterned accessories into your home such as cushions or framed prints for the wall. Paired with a coordinating colour on the walls, you’ll achieve an on-trend look that’s easy to mix and match should you wish to change the scheme of the room.

Heated Floors

Floor heating is the modern heating solution – creating the perfect temperature, making you feel warm and comfortable from the moment you enter the room.
